Serbia is the second most common work destination among our applicants, and a large share of them apply from Bangladesh. The route itself is covered in our Serbia work permit guide — the Type D visa to enter, the single permit that carries the right to work.
This piece is only about what changes when you file from Dhaka.
Confirm which mission handles Bangladesh
Serbia's diplomatic network does not cover every country directly, and applications from Bangladesh may be handled by a mission accredited from elsewhere in the region. Before you book anything, confirm which mission accepts your file, whether an in-person appointment is required, and what their current document list looks like.
This is a question with a definite answer. Get it from the mission, not from a recruiter.
Attestation is the real timeline
Your certificates, experience letters and police clearance need to be legalised before a foreign mission will accept them. From Bangladesh that generally means the issuing authority, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the mission — each with its own queue, none of them expedited by anyone promising otherwise.
Applicants who miss an intake usually miss it here. Work backwards from the start date on your contract.
The employer question
Serbia's route is employer-driven and the employer carries most of the filing burden: the vacancy, the contract, and in most cases evidence the role could not be filled domestically or from the EU labour market.
That gives you a clean verification test. A genuine Serbian employer has a registered legal name and a company registration number, and will not object to you confirming them. An agent who will not name the employer is not offering you a job.
The pitches to refuse
- Expiring "quotas" and this-week-only offers
- Any payment requested before a written, signed offer
- Guaranteed approvals or guaranteed processing times
- An employer that cannot be independently verified as registered
What stays the same
The two documents, the employer's obligations, the document list, and the reasons files stall — all covered in the main guide, all unchanged by where you apply from. The Bangladesh-specific work is confirming the mission, starting attestation early, and verifying the employer before money moves.
